Arizona’s famous ‘Desert Dome’ hits market for $ 3.7 million – Robb Report

Some houses are not like others. A property dubbed the Desert Dome in Scottsdale, Ariz. Is a prime example: the house is encased in aluminum panels, giving it a futuristic look that certainly sets it apart from its neighbors. Those interested in the separate property are in luck as it has just hit the market for the first time for $ 3.7 million.

The house was originally designed by architect Wayne Young, director of Young Architects, in partnership with local builder RD Hendrickson. Its domed structure was built in 2000 and resembles notable buildings such as the Epcot Center at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and the Amazon Spheres in the company’s Seattle office.

In total, this is a property of approximately 9,500 square feet, with six beds, seven bathrooms, and a half bath. The main level mixes indoor and outdoor living by opening onto the patio, and the basement has amenities such as a home theater, fitness room, and wine cellar. On the highest level is the master suite, which includes home office space for working from home.

The property spans five acres, with plenty of space for outdoor activities. The house has a circular swimming pool, a dining room with a fireplace and a separate guest house. The latter was designed by architect James Hann and has been published in local magazines. According to the list, the site itself maximizes natural light and mountain views, so there is a lot of natural beauty to be enjoyed here in addition to the striking architecture.

There is also an element of sustainability to the home, as the listing states that “vast steps have been taken to live in harmony with the local wilderness.” The house has solar panels, for example, so it can generate at least some of its own energy.

Of course, while this is definitely home, this sort of out-of-the-box look won’t be right for every buyer. But if you are looking for something a little different or a flagship residence to brag about to your friends, then Desert Dome will definitely do the trick.
