Blood donation camp held at Ravenshaw University East Hostel

Cutoff: Current residents of Ravenshaw University’s historic East Hostel, in association with the East Hostel Alumni Association (EAA), held a blood donation camp on Friday at the hostel’s campus.

The camp was jointly inaugurated by EAA members namely Santosh Dash, Sashanka Sekhar Rout, Dr Debashish Mishra and Santosh Kumar Sethi.

With broad participation in mind and adhering to appropriate COVID behavior guidelines, the mega camp was organized in collaboration with two blood banks, namely Capital Hospital and Headquarters Hospital Blood Banks. of Jajpur district.

In this blood donation camp, a record number of 505 units of blood was collected. While the capital hospital blood bank collected 235 units, the Jajpur district headquarters hospital blood bank collected 270 units.

A massive signature campaign and an awareness activity led by the residents helped collect 505 units of blood in the East Hostel camp.

The hostel superintendent Dr. Gurudev Meher, former alumni of the Manjit Mitra hostel, members of the EAA, many students and occasionally guests also volunteered blood to the opportunity.

Refreshments for donors were organized and a group of volunteers from the hostel residents took charge of coordinating and managing the event with confidence.

It can be mentioned here that the blood donation camp was organized on the sidelines of the hostel’s centenary celebration on December 24th.

Prominent EAA members Sambit Tripathy, Subham Sahoo and Ashish Choudhury coordinated the camp. After the successful camp, the residents of the East Hostel walked through the Ravenshaw University campus in a procession.
