Electronic goods worth Rs 1 lakh and cash stolen from Gurukul hostel in MP Nagar

Electronic goods worth Rs 1 lakh and Rs 2,700 in cash were stolen from Gurukul hostel in MP Nagar Zone 2 on Wednesday evening, the victim had gone for training when the accused targeted the hostel room locker and escaped with valuables.

Police said victim Mohit Mukherjee discovered in the evening that a laptop, mobile phone, tablet computer and Rs 2,700 in cash had been stolen.

In his complaint, the victim said he started living a day ago at the hostel and provided an advance and documents for the room.

Once the arrangements were made, the victim had gone for training and when she returned to the evening locker of her hostel room no. 201 was found broken. The victim checked and found that the disbelievers escaped with electronic goods and Rs 2700 in cash. The total loss in the theft would be around Rs 1 lakh, the victim said.

Based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation, the police registered a robbery case against an unidentified miscreant. Police suspect the miscreants were aware of the victim’s routine which helped them steal valuables in a short period of time.

To establish the identity and verify the miscreants who targeted the victim’s house, CCTV footage of the area would be investigated.

Meanwhile, groceries worth Rs 50,000 were robbed at a shop in Shahjehanabad area on Wednesday; Janardhan Mishra runs a store called Sultania Infantry in the Shahjehanabad area and on Wednesday he discovered that his store was targeted and groceries had been broken into.
