Krishnasagar ITI in poor condition
Kothagudem: Students at Krishnasagar ITI, a residential ITI in Bhadrachalam in Burgampahad mandal of Kothagudem district, have faced a number of problems over the past few years. The students’ repeated appeals to the principal and other senior officers fell on deaf ears.
A large number of tribal students join the institute as it had gained a good reputation in terms of results and internships. But the misfortunes started with the fact that the government did not grant funds for the development of ITI for the past few years. Although the old building is in poor condition, no steps have been taken to repair it or there are no proposals to build a new one.
Even the hostel rooms are in poor condition. Currently around 100 students are sharing 10 rooms as the other rooms are in very poor condition. There are also problems like the lack of adequate drinking water facilities at the institute. The students allege that they have to fetch water in canisters or buckets from other sources, both for drinking and for other purposes. They say their appeals to the principal and other officials have not helped to improve the situation.
The institute is in a forest and there have been a number of incidents when snakes and other animals have entered the premises. Even adequate sanitation is not maintained on campus, they added.
One of the students told The Hans India that he was admitted to the institute through an online process but is now worried as there are no basic facilities or faculty here.
Students say it has now become a self-run hostel. They get rice from outside and cook in hostel rooms, they informed.
When questioned, Principal Laxman said that they have sent proposals for the development of the institute to ITDA and the government, but so far no action has been taken.
