KATRA, April 19: GRP Katra has arrested all defendants involved in the murder of one Akhshay Kumar, son of Rattan Chand of Tan Katra, who was attacked near Railway Guest House on the evening of April 17 and later succumbed to his injuries at GMC Jammu Hospital.
The arrested defendants were identified as Sahil Sharma alias Munna, son of Tara Chand of Nelay Katra, Rahul, son of Surinder Kumar of Chintamani Katra and Anju Devi alias Billi. The trio reportedly intercepted the deceased on his way to the market from his home.
According to the police, the deceased Akshay Kumar was attacked by Sahil Sharma with a sharp weapon (Kirch type) with the intention of killing him and after committing the crime, the trio fled from the place.
Inflicted with deep wounds, the victim was transferred to GMC Hospital in Jammu where he succumbed to his injuries. In this regard, the case was originally registered with P/S GRP Katra under Section 307/34 IPC, 4/25 Arms Act and later the case was converted to 302/34 IPC, 4/25 Arms Act.
The accused were arrested yesterday by GRP Katra with the cooperation of District Police under the overall supervision of SSP Railways Katra, Sanjay Kumar Kotwal.
