Video of medical students queuing and slapped by elderly people in MP goes viral – The New Indian Express

BHOPAL: Days after MGM Medical College, Indore was rocked by gossip complaints, the issue has now engulfed the government medical college in Ratlam district. A video of junior students standing in line and being slapped by their seniors apparently at the college boys hostel has gone viral. The 2.51 minute video also shows one of the senior students holding a junior by the hair.

The college’s anti-ragging committee recommended the suspension of the affected senior students from classes for six months and their permanent expulsion from the hostel. The committee also recommended filing a criminal complaint against them.

A senior professor at the medical school said the video of the group of 2021 students being shredded by their elders was submitted to them by the hostel manager on Friday. The matter was then reported to the college administration through the National Medical Commission’s hotline, after which a meeting of the college’s anti-ragging committee was called.

This is the second incident of robbery reported at the college hostel in two months. The senior students found implicated in the case had previously been permanently expelled from the hostel and suspended for three months from classes. But that doesn’t seem to have had a deterrent effect on the students.

The Ratlam medical school, hostel and hospital are located on a single campus, which also houses a police outpost under the jurisdiction of the Ratlam Industrial Zone Police Station. However, so far the matter has not been reported by the college administration to the cops, police station official OP Singh told this newspaper on Saturday.

When reporters visited the university campus on Saturday, they spotted liquor bottles lying near the hostel. It is said that when the manager of the hostel tried to stop the latest incident of ragging, the senior students tried to throw liquor bottles at him.

This alleged shredding incident comes just days after Indore Police filed a complaint on July 24 against unidentified MBBS students at MGM Medical College for shredding juniors, including forcing
to perform unnatural sexual acts.
