Visakhapatnam: MOEs should also take responsibility for running schools and hostels properly, says Collector
District Collector A. Mallikarjuna said Mandal Education Officers (MEOs) should also take responsibility for properly running schools and homes with teachers. He organized a meeting with MOEs, civilian supply officers, education department officials and inventory supply agencies on the midday meal program and hostel maintenance in the district.
Addressing officials, Mr Mallikarjuna said the vegetables, rice and eggs that are provided to schools must be of good quality. He also said there should be proper watering facilities in all schools, hostels and water tests should be carried out from time to time to check the quality.
He said students should be disciplined in schools and homes. They should not be allowed out without permission. Particular attention should be paid to innocent and aggressive students, he said. The collector said extra measures should be taken in consideration of poisonous snakes and insects, especially during the monsoon season. He said some teachers in villages far from the Agency were not attending classes regularly and warned that harsh action would be taken against them. Joint Collector P. Arun Babu, Joint Director of Social Welfare Department Ramana Murthy, District Education Officer Chandrakala were present.
